It isn't easy, most of the time, to do what I want to do, let alone what I should do but, especially where crocheting is concerned, I find it difficult at times to do the things I want to do. Not only because of my health, to be fair, but also because I'm still learning so much. With my health being so unstable, this affects what I can do for the majority of the time and, at this moment in time, it's holding me back something awful :(
It's got to be around 3 weeks since I posted my last blog and, normally, I manage to crochet at least 1, but normally 3, things a week. For this last few weeks, I've managed one main project - a new pattern that I was asked to trial, and which, after I had learned a new stitch, has become one of my favourites :)
The item was a Laptop case and, as I hadn't made one for myself yet, I decided to make it to fit my own laptop. The pattern writer is Candace Glabas, who is the 'Crochet Dans L'air' part of Crochet Dans L'air and The Grey Lady :)
Their facebook page is:
Here's a couple of photos I took of my laptop case, but you will have to contact Candace privately if you are interested in purchasing the pattern.
I used 3 different yarns for this, crocheting them together - except for the carrying handle, where I used 2 yarns, but to the same thickness.
The main purple colour is a Red Heart Super Saver 100% acrylic yarn, called Amethyst - I used almost 2 x 198g, or 7 oz, worcester weight skeins of this.
I also used some of my favourite Double Knit 100% acrylic Dusky Lilac yarn - one 100g skein. I then added some Robin Double Knit 100% acrylic yarn, in a lovely, light, Lavender - one 100g skein.
Having made 2 cases before, one for my mum, and one for my daughter, I hadn't thought of putting a carrying handle on either, so I wasn't sure whether this would handle the weight of my laptop but, to my surprise, it did so, and easily - with the handle being wide enough to be very comfortable on my shoulder as I carried the laptop around the house in it :)
Because it's been hard to make anything major, i've been occupying myself with some small projects. My daughter goes to all the festivals, as she's in the band called Slamboree (http://www.slamboree.com), and is also a member of the Fire Performers, Pyro Celtica (http://www.pyroceltica.org/).
When she was last visiting, we were talking about her last time at the USA festival Burning Man (http://www.burningman.com/), last September, and she was telling me about some of the things they found were needed, but were in short supply, so I decided that I would make this a little side project of my own, and am crocheting all the little bits and bobs she had told me she needed. I won't show them on here, though, as they are a surprise for her! :)
Anyway, that's all my news for now and so, until my next post, Keep Crocheting!
